Stone Analytics® Re-Launches Second Moment®
The News and Business Resource for Applied Analytics

San Diego, June 26, 2003—Stone Analytics, a leading provider of easy-to-use predictive analytic software for business professionals and marketers, today announced the redesign and re-launch of Second Moment, its online news and business resource for applied analytics. Featuring articles by such world renowned experts as Dr. Judea Pearl and Dr. Halbert White, Second Moment showcases leading edge work on topics ranging from Causality to Artificial Neural Networks.

First launched as an interactive forum in the spring of 2000, the site has evolved into more of a traditional webzine, including both articles and columns published on a continuing bases. The new design was implemented to reflect this change in focus.

"The new design makes it easier for readers to see what's on the site and to find the columns and articles relevant to their industry," said editor Bill Abrams.

In addition to feature articles, Second Moment also publishes a number of columns on the application of statistics in business and industry. Et al. and Stats in Industry highlight the latest analytical tools and techniques for identifying profit opportunities and deploying resources more effectively.

At the same time, although serious in its mission to publicize the importance of analytics in an increasingly data-driven world, Second Moment is not without a sense of humor. It's Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics column takes a skeptical look at the subtle and not-so-subtle abuses of statistics found in newspapers, magazines, and other media sources on a daily basis, while on the feature front it has been known to publish articles such as "Do Burglars Calculate ROI: A Logistic Regression Analysis."
